Perfecting
Wisdom in a Work of Love
Ajahn
Vimalo reports that he will have finished his sculpture of the Prajnaparamita
(Sanskrit for the Perfection of Wisdom) by the end of the vassa.
He has been working on the figure on and off for many years, including
a long layoff during ten years of training as a bikkhu in Thailand
and Sri Lanka. He says that he has often wondered if the end would
ever come. The image is a replica of the famous 13th -century stone
sculpture from Singosari, East Java, which Ajahn Vimalo began sculpting
from scratch many years ago, before he entered the monastery. Now
that the likeness is finished, he hopes to be able to have a mould
made in order to cast reproductions. The first would be placed in
the new Dhamma Hall at Cittaviveka.
She has been an exercise in patience.
